Announcing new additions to the MG Travel team

Welcome Bob & Mary

Joining us this year are "jazz friends" Bob and Mary Solsbak. Formerly with America 's Finest City Dixieland Jazz Society (AFCDJS), both were deeply involved in the activities of the Society and the San Diego Thanksgiving Dixieland Jazz Festival. With Bob McKay, they were Volunteer Coordinators for the festival for over 20 years.

Bob and Mary (especially Bob) are not new to the travel industry. Bob retired after 42 years with American Airlines where he was an operations agent. Mary worked as a reservations agent for United Airlines for a few years - before computers - and in fact, they met at an Interline Christmas party. Bob now spends lots of his time as a docent of the San Diego Maritime Museum while Mary engages in a variety of volunteer activities and serves on the board of the Community Council for Music in the Schools (CCMS).

Their first venture with MG Travel is "Jass Camp at Sea - 2008," a week-long jazz workshop aboard Holland America 's ms Oosterdam in March 2008. Mary says, "Sally and I and our "two Bobs" have been planning and working on this for almost a year now, and it's finally becoming a reality - we are so excited! The four of us have had a lot of experience working together - we check and balance each other. We are delighted to be part of the MG Travel team."

Welcome Karen

We welcome Karen Floyd to MG Travel. Karen has been involved in the travel industry for 20 years as an independent contractor and outside sales agent and took travel agent courses at Palomar College long before the industry was computerized. Travel agents wrote "paper" tickets, made reservations directly with the airlines, cruise lines and travel wholesalers.  She trained on the Apollo system when travel became computerized.

Karen tells us, "I've enjoyed traveling with jazz groups within the states and abroad.  My preference is for traditional jazz - New Orleans , San Francisco Revival and Chicago styles rather than modern jazz. I've been able to organize some group travel for weekend trips to jazz festivals and have enjoyed arranging and guiding group day tours to various points of interest for tourists and local residents via commercial coaches."

Karen is excited about affiliating with MG Travel and looks forward to more jazz and more travel. We are very happy to have her on our team as we seek to bring new travel adventures and great jazz performances to you, our clients!.
